Moving along...

Wow...so much has happened in the past 2 weeks!  Those beautiful wood floors have been installed, tile is just about finished up, trim has started, doors installed and cabinets delivered!!!  Oh...and our current house just went on the market!

Making the move is probably going to be a little tougher than I originally anticipated.  My friend, Eve, listed our house the other day and for the past 4 years, I never really got emotional about moving.  But, when I saw my boys' bedrooms in the listing, all of a sudden it hit me....my babies aren't babies anymore, and we are leaving the house where they were babies!  Joe has no love loss...he is so excited about moving, I don't think he really cares at all about leaving this house. Nick, on the other hand, is a little sad to leave the 'hood.  He wants us to keep the house so he can move back in when he's 45.  Not sure what the significance of 45 is, but that's his "big plan"....after of course, he makes it to the Bigs. I keep telling him, if he makes it to the Bigs, he's going to want to build his own house.  But, he's pretty insistent that Robert & Evan will still be here when he's 45, and that they will be able to hang out in the backyard together forever.  We'll see.

As for the new house, here are shots of the floors just installed. We plan to finish with a few coats of that beautiful Waterlox finish.  Delicious!

My office (window trim also done)...

Foyer....

I can't find the full picture of the kitchen with the floors installed, but here's a shot near the fireplace.  I also don't know what I did with the shot of the dining room!  I'm sure it's still on my camera, so when I get those, I'll post as well.

Here are some shots of the tile, trim and doors....

basement bar tile just finishing  up

Master bath tub

Master shower...this turned out beautiful!!!  Still a little trim at the bottom needed, but it's looking great!

Bench seat and window in the shower...

Exterior door leading from kitchen to deck

Window trim in guest bedroom (i think!)

Trim in the little entry between the master and powder room....

And, of course the cabinets....and more cabinets...and more cabinets....

Lastly, some exterior updates.  The real columns on the front porch were installed  (still need to be painted), the tongue and groove pine ceilings installed, door painted and shutters delivered.

Well, that's where we are.  Next week should be crazy....cabinets go in Monday & Tuesday.  I can't wait to see those!  Trim should be finishing up and the stair railings should be going in.  I need to get busy on my light fixtures....that's been a slow painful process but I'm finally making some decisions!

Keep your fingers crossed the current house sells quick/painless for us!

Watch where you step!

Flooring is going down everywhere, but most importantly,  my beloved wood floors are finally in from Appalachian Woods.  And I am still madly in love.  In fact, I'm even more in love...not only are they going to look amazing, but they have that rich wood smell that I want to last forever!  YUM!!!  For those that can't remember (or never paid attention when I said it before), the floors are reclaimed oak barn beams that are then sliced down and made into flooring.  They are just to-die-for. You can see all the weathering, notches and just oldness that is going to look amazing when it's all finished.  Here's a shot of them stacked up in the family room....waiting patiently to be installed in a few days.  I can't wait!

The mudroom flooring we picked is a close second to the wood floors. We are doing brick floors and I can't wait to see how the final turns out.  I figured it's the perfect floor for a mudroom. The boys can come in drop their gear, kick off their shoes...and eventually come in from the pool through the back door soaking wet and it won't matter bc I have these amazing brick floors!

Here's the main shot of the mudroom...grout still needs to be completed.

Then here's the powder room in the mudroom....same brick waiting for the grout.

The boys bathrooms are also getting finished by tile man. Oh, did I mention tile man's name.....Hitler! No, really...it's Hitler.  Poor guy...brutal! Can you imagine?  He's such a nice guy though.  And, really, doesn't understand a word I say to him, so not sure if he gets that his name being Hitler isn't the greatest thing his parents could have done to him. The boys bathrooms are identical, so I'll spare you the duplicate pics...here's the shower as you enter the bathroom.

And, I had them put in a little niche for soap/shampoo.  Below is a shot of the bench seat.

Here are more shots of the amazing wood floors, I know, I can't stop looking at them either!!!

And, the guest bath.  LOVE IT!!!  We did crackled subway on the tub surround and then a really pretty tile for the floor that you can't really see, but trust me, it looks great!

And, the master is being done now too, but unfortunately I couldn't get a good shot. Ole' Hilter was working on the floor and I didn't want to bother him, so I just took a quick shot of the flooring where I could...

Alright already, you can see my wood floors again...but this is the last time...geesh!

Finally, Hitler is also working on the basement bath and bar. I shook things up a bit and went diagonal on the tub surround...crazy right?  Ignore the green things, those are just for spacing :)

There is Hitler!  I couldn't resist getting him in at least one shot. The bar tile is down. The back wall will be stone and the bar itself will be wrapped in rough sawn wood.  Yum, just like the wood floors!!!

The last thing is the front porch.  The stone is done on the front porch floor. But, the guys are still working on the mudroom entrances.  It looks great!

Stayed tuned for more over the next week...I'm hoping for finished up tile, painted doors and the beginning of trim and wood floors!
